Blogging by Mail 2 - are you in?

Yes folks, the rumors are true... the next round of Blogging by Mail has begun.  (What, you missed the first one?  Check out Nic's roundup.  Now you're interested right?  Of course you are!  Then read on to sign up for this round!)

Sign ups are super easy, just drop me an email (thesamanthafilesATgmailDOTcom) with the following info and I'll add you to the list!  Please put 'Blogging by Mail 2' in the subject line.

Name

Blog (not required at all, but if you have one, let me know)

Email address

Mailing address (anyone can participate, I'll try to pair up by country to save on shipping.  If you don't mind an international partner, feel free to let me know that too!)

Any allergies or dislikes

The guidelines:

Blogging by Mail is a food swap, though you don't have to be a chef to sign up.  Everyone will get a swap partner, then you'll make up a package for them.  What should you put in the package?  Well, some homemade goodies are a great start.  You can make something yourself (hazelnut brownies, peanut butter cookies, cranberry orange biscotti, rum pound cake, green tea marshmallows, toffee, etc), or you can buy something from a local bakery (the best chocolate chip cookies ever, raspberry macaroons, chocolate mint meringues, etc.).  The rest of the package contents is up to you.  Swappers in the last round sent:

  • tea
  • candy (regional specialties or favorite treats)
  • recipes
  • spice mixes/special salts
  • mix cd's
  • jams and jellies
  • salami and chicken floss!

Keep in mind that your package will be en route for a few days, so please don't ship anything too perishable.  And remember to have fun!  Swaps are a great way to brighten someone's day, and who doesn't love a box of yummy treats!

SIGN UPS ARE NOW CLOSED.

Your package should be mailed out by September 30th.  Please email me the permalink for your blog entry about the package you received (On or around September 30th), or if you don't have a blog, just write up an email and you can even send me a few pictures.  I will post a roundup of BBM2 in the first few weeks of October.

Drop me an email if you have any questions.  I'm looking forward to another great swap!

But I thought that I would mention that there are some foods that you can't send to some countries.....

If you get an Australian swap mate please check out a post I did on AQIS
http://eatstuff.blogspot.com/2005/06/for-your-interest-australian.html
BUT I make NO GUARENTEES about the links or the information contained in my post!

But I have't had any parcels rejected yet :)

Maybe I need glasses..can't seem to find your email address and I'd *love* to sign up for BBM2!

samantha - I finally nmanaged to log into your site at home. But it is odd because at work I just come up with the error I sent you:(

Unfortunately I wont be able to take part in this one because I shall be on vacation in September.

I hope to make it onto the list for a later version.

Good luck with the organising!

Sam

awe. just wanted to give a big, warm thanks to you for hosting this. so rad. also, the shins=good.

Hi Clare,

Thanks so muc for the info... I'll be sure to send it along to aly people who are sending packages to Ausralia. :)

Hi Kristen,

I dropped you an email, you can just reply to me to sign up!

Hi Sam,

Not sure why your work computer is acting odd, at least you could log on at home. No worries about this round, I hope you have a nice vacation. And I'll le you know if I host any other swaps. I've got something in mind for the fall.

Hi Violet,

Thanks so much! I'm excited about my virst hosting duties. And yup, I *heart* the shins. :)

Yes, yes, yes! I was SOOO hoping that there would be a second BBM! I've just dropped you an email, Samantha.

hi sam! count me in... i had a blast taking part in the first one and would definitely want to be involved in this second one... but what's your email address? so that i can email you the details you need. let me know? thanks!

Hi, I just found out about this. Is it too late????

Brilliant idea, count me in!

As for Australian food restrictions, yes they are strict, and if you're sending stuff to Western Australia, they're even stricter. WA doesn't have fruit fly, and they're trying to keep it out. Packages from within Australia should be OK, as long as there's no fresh fruit or vegies, but you probably wouldn't want to put them in the post anyway.

I would love to participate and even host one of these but I am out of town for the rest of the month. Who should I talk to about future swaps?

Your swap is a great idea - I'm sorry I'm too late to get in on it. I sublet my apt beginning of July and have been toodling around since - just returned from Peru which is fantastic. Back in the saddle...Good luck with future swaps - perhaps I'll get in on the next one!
Best
Ms.Tomato
